More than 2.5 Million Persons Visit SUNA Website during the Elections
Khartoum, May 11 (SUNA)- The General Manager of Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Awad Jadain, announced that the number of the visitors of SUNA website during the recent elections from all over the world exceeded 2.5 million
At the Fifth Meeting of the Council of the Minister of Information and Communication which was held Tuesday at SUNA premises, Jadain reviewed the media plan that was adopted for conducting coverage of the elections
He stressed the importance of giving concern to implementation of the issue of the correspondents at the areas of heavy media presence
He appreciated the remarkable role of SUNA website during the recent elections
Jadain said that SUNA is keen to implement the MENOS communication system
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the External Information Secretariat, Bakri Mulah, gave a review of the role of the secretariat in the coverage of the election
He appreciated the cooperation between his secretariat and the security, executive and political organs with regard to implementing the external information work
Mulah underscored the importance of the existence of correspondents in the southern and Darfur states
The Director of the National Television Corporation, Mohamed Hatim Suleiman, said at the meeting that the fixed stations are needy for support in order to play their role
He stressed the importance of existence of mobile networks in the south. Concerning the project of MENOS, Suleiman said that seven stations were constructed, six of them were operated, besides two SNG vehicles, referring to technical problems in this respect
The Director of the National Broadcast Corporation, Muttasim Fadul, said that nine stations were constructed and tested in the context of MENOS project in Gedarif, Kassala, Port-Sudan, Medani and Al-Fasher. The Director of Sudan Academy for Communication Sciences, Abdul-Dayem Omer Al-Hassan, reviewed the efforts done by the academy for training media men, voters and citizens in coordination with the National Elections Commission
