Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes regional, international observers to monitor the upcoming elections in Sudan

 

Khartoum, March 17 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the regional and international observers to monitor the coming elections in the Sudan, and described it as an important mechanism to enforce the honesty and fairness of the voting

 

This came when the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mutrif Siddiq, Wednesday received in his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the advanced delegation of the Arab League's election observation team, headed by the Arab League's Special envoy to Sudan, Ambassador Salah Halima

 

Dr. Mutriff expressed Sudan gratitude to the Arab League over its response and sending to the observers, and briefed the delegation on the circumstances relating to the elections. He also explained to them that monitoring the elections requires good preparations for the components and atmosphere of the voting process

 

The Undersecretary affirmed the government keenness to hold the elections in the fixed time, saying that the National Elections Commission will provide the observers with all the required facilities and assistance, in its capacity as an independent body

 

Meanwhile, ambassador Salah Halima briefed the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the mission of the Arab league's observation team, as well as its meetings with some regional organizations, top of which the African Union, and number of representatives of political parties in order to get acquainted with the atmosphere of the elections and discussing the opportunities of its success
