Ministry of Foreign Affairs Celebrates Arab Human Rights Day, Urging International Community to Reject Double standard Policy

 

Khartoum, March 16 (SUNA) - The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mutrif Siddiq, said that Sudan has made great efforts to enhance and to protect human rights based on the principles of the true religion and tradition and diverse cultures according to the international and regional conventions accepted and approved by Sudan toward achievement of the sublime goals in respect for the dignity of the Sudanese people

 

Addressing a celebration organized Tuesday by the Advisory Council for Human Rights in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the Arab Human Rights Day, Dr. Siddiq said that the celebration of this day marks the elevation of lofty values in a world, where mankind is subject to injustice, oppression , intolerance and non acceptance of others as well as negative impacts of the economic crisis and the international financial and food crises and climate change, which has exacerbated the suffering of many nations and peoples and prevented them from enjoying their fundamental rights

 

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the hope that the world make a pause in this day to review and to improve the conditions of the peoples of the region so as to lead to political, economic and social reforms in order to enable our peoples and societies to participate in building human civilization through the promotion of the foundations of justice and deepening the dialogue between different cultures and civilizations and the rejection of discrimination and intolerance

 

Dr. Mutrif called on the international community to promote and to protect human rights and to discard double standard positions in order to enable the peoples

 

Meanwhile, Arab League Envoy to Sudan Ambassador Salah Halima, also addressed the occasion, saying that Sudan is going through a crucial historical era of important achievements that would enable the people of Sudan enjoy their full rights as human beings, adding that the sharing wealth, participation in power and self-determination as well as changing the laws and the democratic transformation are all leading to ensuring and protection of human rights in Sudan

 

He noted as the Arab people celebrate the Arab Human Rights Day, they must not be forget that the people of Palestine are under occupation and that the rights of its people and territorial integrity have being violated and that the sanctuary of its sacred places are violated for the last sixty years under a terrible international silence and complicity of solemn international countries and organizations claiming to assert and protect human rights

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul-Moneim Osman Taha Rapporteur, Advisory Council for Human Rights, affirmed Sudan' willingness to cooperate with the Arab League in the field of human rights, noting that the Charter is based on two principles to achieve privacy through the cultures and religions in the region with a focus on regional issues

 

He said that the Arab world to witness the solidarity of the continuing violations in this area and it drew world attention to their issues, especially those related to racial discrimination against Arabs. MF/ MO
