International Workshop on Peace Darfur in Doha Welcomes Positive Developments in the Mediation Tracks
Doha, Jan. 18 (SUNA)- The participants at the Second Workshop of International Experts on Peace in Darfur, which was held in Doha, have blessed the positive developments in the three tracks of Sudan government the armed movements, the civil society and the track of normalization of the Sudanese - Chadian relations. A statement issued by the workshop Monday affirmed the participants' full support to the joint mediation being conducted by Qatar, the African Union and the United Nations and the programmes of its work. The participants called on the parties to continue their commitment to reach peace process in Darfur through the negotiations in Doha. The opening sitting of the workshop was co-chaired by the Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Abdalla Al Mahmoud, the joint mediator of the UN and African Union, Djibril Bassole, and in the presence of the Commissioner of Peace and Security at the African Union Ramadan Lamamra,. The statement stated that the objective of the workshop was study outcome of the various contacts and consultations which were carried out by the mediation with the concerned parties in Darfur issue, besides outcome of the ongoing efforts for uniting the armed movements.
