Gen. Salih and Djiboutian Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Relations and Situation in the Horn of Africa and Arab World

 

Khartoum, Jan. 18 (SUNA) - The Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, Monday received in his office at the Republican Palace the Djiboutian Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Yousif, and reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern. The Djiboutian Foreign Minister is visiting Sudan to participate in the meetings of the joint Sudanese - Djiboutian ministerial committee. The joint committee's meetings which were concluded on Sunday, have reviewed a number of issues of mutual concern to Sudan and Djibouti, including enhancement of the higher education, working out mechanisms for the movement of the trade between the two countries and the participation at the regional projects toward realizing economic integration between the countries at the region. In a statement to SUNA, the Djiboutian Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Yousif, said that he discussed with the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Al-Tigani Salih Fedail, and other senior Sudanese officials issues of security and stability at the Horn of Africa, means of support to the interim government in Somalia, the border dispute between Djibouti and Somalia and the Sudanese role for alleviating the tension between the two countries, the issue of piracy at the Red Sea and its impacts on the sea navigation and the economies of Djibouti and Sudan which are overlooking the Red Sea. The Djiboutian minister indicated that he reviewed with the Sudanese officials Arab issues, including the Palestinian question and the situation in Lebanon and Somalia. He affirmed the support of Djibouti to Sudan in all issues and its rejection to the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sudan, despite Djibouti membership in the ICC. He affirmed the keenness of Djibouti and Sudan to establish distinguished bilateral relations and consolidate the cooperation between them in all domains. MO/MO
