Four cement factories to start production by June this year in the Nahar Al Nil state
Khartoum, Feb. 22 (SUNA) - Four cement factories will start production in the Nahar Al Nil State, north of Khartoum, producing six million tons of cement a year, the Ministry of Industry said
The yield of the four factories will produce a surplus of about three million tons a year in the local market
The State Minister for industry Engineer Ali Ahmed Osman paid a field visit to the area where the four factories are located to get a first hand feeler and to spur the preparations currently underway for the launch of the production stage
The Minister said the field visit is also aimed to discuss the best ways for the export of the surplus and to see how environmental, health, safety and high standard quality control concerns are being met in cement production in the four factories
The Minister said the cement production is a strategic industry which is expected to help effect the comprehensive economic action and stir all other relevant economic activities related to construction and building industries
The Minister pointed to the fact that the country has recently witnessed huge strides in construction, building and real estates sectors
Experts put the country annual cement need at about 2.5 million tones
The acting Wali (Governor) the Nahar Al Nil state, Dr Djibriel Abdul Lateef, has pointed out that his state comes atop in cement production industries with its abundance of the raw material, the basic infrastructures, electricity and its ability to adjust to huge production requirements
