Egyptian Irrigation Minister Declares Joint Sudanese - Egyptian Vision that Includes their Rights on Use of Nile Water

 

Khartoum, May 20 (SUNA)- The Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Engineer Mohamed Nasr-Eddin Allam, announced that Sudan and Egypt will later declare their joint vision which will include their rights in the use of Nile water

 

In a statement to the press after his meeting Thursday with his Sudanese counterpart, Engineer Kamal Ali Mohamed, the Egyptian minister called on the countries which signed the Framework Agreement to return to the negotiation table to complete the negotiations on the pending issues, that include the rights and the current water uses for each of Sudan and Egypt as included in the existing agreements

 

Engineer Allam said that invitations will be extended to the ministers of the Nile Basin countries as soon as they respond to the call

 

He said that Sudan and Egypt have agreed on steps that will be exposed to the political circles, adding that his talks with the Sudanese Minister of Irrigation tackled the developments concerning the Nile water issue, the meeting of Sharmal-Sheikh and the signing of a number of countries to the Framework Agreement

 

He expressed his view that the Framework Agreement was not complete, because it did not include the Sudanese and Egyptian rights and uses of Nile water

 

Engineer Allam said that the Framework Agreement is threatening to the building of confidence and that negotiation which lasted for more than 10 year with the Nile Basin countries
