Dr. Taha: Elections Represent Turning Point in Sudan History
Khartoum, Dec. 30 (SUNA)- The Rapporteur of the Consultative Council for Human Rights, Dr. Abdul-Moniem Osman Mohamed Taha, said that the coming elections represent an important turning point in Sudan history, calling on the mass media to conduct objective coverage of the election process. Addressing Wednesday the workshop organized by the council, in collaboration with the UN mission in Sudan, on the Role of the Media and the Civil Society in the Elections, Dr. Taha said that the role of the mass media and the civil society is essential for success of the elections. He said that the civil society organizations are required to live up to their role with full responsibility and self-confidence and to work far away from any influence of foreign circles. MO/MO
