Dr. Salahuddin: N'djamena Agreement will Boost Efforts for Realizing Peace in Darfur

 

Khartoum, Feb. 20 (SUNA)- The Presidential Advisor and official of Darfur file, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, has described the agreement signed by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement Saturday in N'djamena is a historic one and a pure Sudanese accomplishment toward realizing peace in Darfur

 

At a press conference he held Saturday evening at Khartoum Airport upon his return from N'djamena, Dr. Salahuddin said that the most important of the agreement is the cease-fire and the immediate engagement in negotiation about it before reaching a written agreement about this cease-fire which means the end of the war

 

Dr. Salahuddin referred to the existence of framework signals on the sharing of wealth and power that the two parties are to agree on

 

He said that the agreement reached by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement also deals with the issue of the displaced people and the refugees, the rehabilitation and the security arrangements and adherence to the principle of good will and political solidarity

 

Dr. Salahuddin expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Chadian President and members of his government who hosted the negotiations in N'djamena and managed them with high professionalism and skills

 

He said that the agreement is regarded as a Sudanese - African and Chadian and without external intervention, adding that this agreement does not represent deduction from the negotiations in Doha or isolation from the other Darfurian groups

 

He said that the agreement was reached with the knowledge of the Joint Mediator, Djibril Bassole and the brothers in Qatar, adding that the N'djamena agreement will speed up the negotiations in Doha

 

Dr. Salahuddin said that the government and the Justice and Equality Movement fixed March 15 as a deadline for completing the negotiations and signing a final peace agreement

 

He added that the President of the Republic and the Chadian President will participate in launching the negotiations in Doha in mid of the current. MO/MO
