Dr. Salahuddin: Enhancement of Sudanese - American Relations Depends on US Administration Stances
Khartoum, June 28 (SUNA)- The Presidential Advisor and chairman of parliamentary group of the National Congress, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, said that success of the available opportunity and the current openness for enhancing the Sudanese - American relations depends on the stances of the new US administration. In a press statement Sunday, Dr. Salahuddin pointed out the burden for enhancing the bilateral relation rests on the American administration on ground that the United States itself has adopted decisions which caused the tension in the relation between the two countries. He emphasized the government readiness for cooperation and dialogue with all forces within the framework of respect to Sudan sovereignty and its choices. He said that Sudan has accepted the contributions of the American envoy for Sudan in support of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) under the principles of respect to Sudan sovereignty and the national interest, adding that Sudan welcomes any contribution to the solution of Darfur issue under the respect to the same principles. Dr. Salahuddin said that his latest visit to the United States enabled him to reflect these principles clearly to the American party, adding that the American official were not objected to these principles due to their legitimacy. He said that the government delegation's visit to Washington represented a strong boost to the ongoing efforts to enhance the bilateral relations. He referred to the extensive opportunities which were available for the government delegation for addressing and participation at media and press publication bodies, adding that the remarkable contacts of the government delegation with the American society would have a positive outcome. Dr. Salahuddin strongly denied any existence or attempt to open a new dialogue on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). MO/MO
