Dr. Salahuddin Discusses with Qatari Leadership Ways to Speed up Holding of Negotiations
Doha, Feb. 11 (SUNA)- The Presidential Advisor and official of Darfur file, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, Thursday met in Doha with the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim bin JABR Al Thani, and reviewed the future of the negotiations in Doha
Dr. Salahuddin also met in Doha with the joint mediation and reviewed the same issue
He affirmed the importance of the time factor concerning the negotiations due to the pending political developments in Sudan, especially with regard to the coming elections that will be held in next April
Dr. Salahuddin said that he called on the joint mediation to set a time ceiling for the negotiation, adding that the mediation pledged to fix a time ceiling in the coming days
He said that the movement that obtains political will take part in the negotiations; otherwise it will be outside the negotiation process
He stressed the importance to a certain timetable to hold the negotiations and to achieve a final settlement before the elections. He called on the armed movements to unite their negotiation stance. Dr. Salahuddin affirmed Sudan confidence on the State of Qatar as sponsor of the negotiations and the joint mediation
He said that the government delegation has held talks with the Qatari leadership on ways to push ahead the negotiations and speeding up the process to hold direct negotiations
He reiterated the government readiness for the negotiations in Doha. MO/MO
