Dr. Mandour Al-Mahdi Describes as False Allegations on National Congress Protection to LRA
Khartoum, Jan. 20 (SUNA)- Deputy Chairman of the National Congress in Khartoum State, Dr. Mohamed Mandour Al-Mahdi, has denied the claims of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) on protection of the National Congress to the Ugandan Lord Resistance Army (LRA). Responding to questions of journalists, Dr. Al-Mahdi said that like such claims are media fabrications that the SPLM has used to make in previous times. He reiterated the National Congress to complete implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), adding that any threat to the peace agreement is regarded as a threat to the government and the National Congress, therefore the allegations on National Congress protection to the LRA are false and should have not come from a partner in the government. Dr. Mandour Al-Mahdi also denied existence of any agreement with the SPLM or any other circle on holding partial elections, adding that the stance of the National Congress on the elections is firm and is based on holding the elections at all levels. Responding to a question, he said dialogue is continuing between the National Congress and the major Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and that meetings were held between the two parties, hoping that the coming stage will witness coordination between them.
