Deputy Chairman of NEC Reviews Bases of Coming Election
Khartoum, Feb. 16 (SUNA)- Deputy Chairman of the National Election Commission, Prof. Abdalla Ahmed Abdalla, has reviewed the bases for holding the elections, which are the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the Interim Constitution, the Political Parties Act for the 2007 and the Elections Act for the year 2008
At a symposium held Tuesday by the Sudanese Council for Voluntary Associations (SCOVA), in collaboration with the National Forum for the Civil Society Organizations, Prof. Abdalla shed light on the efforts carried out by the National Election Commission in the past period for holding the elections
He said that the elections will be held at the levels of the presidency of the republic, the presidency of the government of south Sudan, the wails (governors) of the states the National Assembly and the legislative assemblies of Khartoum and other states
Prof. Abdalla said that the elections will be conducted through 20,000 voting centers all over the country
He asserted the importance of the elections for bolstering the democratic transformation process. MO/MO
