Council of the Arab League to Discuss Arrangements for Holding Meeting of Envoys in Darfur

 

Cairo, Feb. 2 (SUNA)- The Arab League's Council id due to meet next Thursday at the permanent envoys at the premises of the Arab League to discuss the arrangements for holding the first meeting of the council in Darfur on February 13 as a message to affirm the solidarity with the Sudanese people and the people of Darfur

 

In a press statement, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab eague, Ambassador Ahmed bin Hali, said that the meeting will discuss organization of a tour of the League's Secretary General, Amro Musa, and the envoys of the Arab countries to the states of Darfur toward getting informed with the situation of the Darfurians

 

He indicated that the meeting will also review the preparations for convening the meeting of the Arab League's Council in Darfur at the level of the envoys, in the presence of the League's Secretary General, Amro Musa. Ambassador bin Hali indicated that Sudan envoy to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdul-Rahman Siral-Khatim, will inform the meeting with the programme of the visit. Meanwhile, Ambassador bin Hali said that the Conference on Development and Investment in South Sudan will be held in Juba on February 23 with participation of several Arab and African countries. He appreciated the serious efforts being exerted with the framework of the Arab - African initiative for solving Darfur issue, which is being carried out by Qatar and the joint UN and African Union mediator for Darfur.
