Carter Arrives in Khartoum to Follow up the Elections
Khartoum, April 8 (SUNA)- The former US President, Jimmy Carter, Thursday arrived in Khartoum on a several-day visit to follow up the election process in Sudan
The upcoming elections in Sudan will be the 78th elections in the world to be monitored by Carter Center
Carter Center has dispatched a number of good observers to monitor the elections in Sudan
In a statement to the press upon arrival in Khartoum, Carter said that he looks forward for successful elections to be held in Sudan
He said that all things are progressing well and that thousands of candidates participate in these elections
Meanwhile, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Al-Samani Al-Wasila, who received Carter at the airport, said that the current visit of Carter is the third to be paid by him to follow up the elections in Sudan, especially that Carter is personally concerned with the developments in Sudan
He referred to the continuous visits of Carter to Sudan to observe the democratic transformation and to inspect the projects being implemented by Carter Center in Sudan with regard to combating the river blindness and guinea worm diseases
