Arrangements Completed in Cairo for Visit of the Vice - President

 

Cairo, Feb. 7 (SUNA)- Sudan Ambassador to Cairo and Sudan envoy to the Arab League, Gen. Abdul-Rahman Siral-Khatim, said that all the preparations were finalized for the visit of the Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, to Cairo, which is scheduled to begin Sunday, in response to an invitation from the Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazhif

 

Gen. Siral-Khatim described the Sudanese - Egyptian relations as distinguished and firm

 

He said in a statement to SUNA that the visit of the Vice - President to Cairo aims to boosting the integration between Sudan and Egypt and comes within framework of the bilateral contacts and consultations between the two countries on the political and regional issues

 

Gen. Siral-Khatim said that Taha will inform the Egyptian leadership about the current political situation in Sudan, adding that the two parties will discuss ways to consolidate the economic and cultural relations between Sudan and Egypt, as well as means of bolstering the coordination between them in all issues of mutual concern

 

He indicated that Taha will acquaint President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak with the latest political developments in Sudan and the ongoing efforts for realizing peace in Darfur

 

He said that the Sudanese and Egyptian parties will hold a session of talks to review means of boosting the cooperation between the two sister countries in all fields. Gen. Siral-Khatim said that the Vice - Minister will also meet with the Egyptian Minister, Ahmed Abul-Ghait and Egyptian businessmen

 

He indicated that Taha will honour Monday in Cairo the Egyptian national football team who lately won Africa Cup, in the presence of the Arab and African ambassadors to Egypt, adding that Taha will also meet with the Sudanese community in Egypt to acquaint them with the current situation in Sudan and the challenges facing Sudan

 

The ambassador referred to the preparations taking place to hold meetings of the Arab League, at the level of the envoys, in the capital of North Darfur, Al-Fasher, on February 13 and to inaugurate model villages for displaced people in Darfur with participation of the Arab League's Secretary General

 

Gen. Siral-Khatim has appreciated the role of the Arab League in supporting Sudan, especially concerning Darfur issue

 

Ambassador Gen. Siral-Khatim also referred to his recent visit to Juba and his meeting with the First Vice - President and President of the Government of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, indicating that they discussed arrangements for holding the Arab Investment Conference on February 23, which is sponsored by the Arab League, in Juba toward boosting the stability in south Sudan
