Arab working women forum to begin in Khartoum on Saturday

 

Khartoum, Feb. 19 (SUNA) - The Sudanese Working Women Association will host the meeting of the Arab Working Women Forum from 20 - 23 February in Khartoum under the auspices of the Adviser of the President, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, under the theme of "towards firm steps to empower the Arab women"

 

In this connection, Dr. Ismail said in a statement to SUNA that the forum is one of the rare conferences on women's issues in the Arab world, pointing out that about 20 women leaders from the Arab countries will take part in the conference, which aims at supporting women as well as reflecting Sudan's progress in various spheres, besides exchanging experiences of women from different countries

 

Dr. Ismail explained that the Sudanese women have achieved a lot of gains during the current era, pointing in this regard to the allocation of 25% of the seats in Parliament for women, saying that women will work to achieve a lot of gains in the coming period in various fields

 

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Sudanese Working Women Association, Mona Ahmed Ali, said the forum comes as part of the implementation of an earlier protocol signed between the Association and the Arab Working Women Forum during the latter's annual meeting in Cairo

 

She explained that the Khartoum forum of Working Women will be attended by women leaders in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iraq, Palestine and Kuwait as well as other officials from Egypt. MF/BT
