Amro Musa: Framework Agreement is Big Step for Reaching Peace in Darfur
Cairo, Mar. 4 (SUNA)- The Secretary General of the Arab League, Amro Musa, described the framework agreement, which was signed by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement in Doha as an important agreement and a wide stride for achieving a lasting solution for Darfur issue
In his address at the inaugural sitting of the 14th Session of the Permanent Committee for Arab - African Cooperation at the Ministerial Level in Cairo Thursday, Musa also lauded the role of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamd bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and his government and the joint Arab - African committee for their role for realizing peace in Darfur
He called on all the Darfurian movements to unite their stances and begin negotiation with Sudan government according to a particular time framework for reaching a comprehensive peace agreement in the coming period
Musa referred to the important of the recent visit paid by a delegation of the Arab League for Darfur to inaugurate a number of development projects
He also appreciated the efforts of Sudan and Chad for normalizing the relations between them, hoping this step will have positive impact on Darfur issue. He also underscored of joint work by the Arab League and the African Union to make unity as the attractive choice of all the Sudanese people
The14th Session of the Permanent Committee for Arab - African Cooperation at the Ministerial Level is due to discuss the preparation for the Second Arab African summit, due to be held in Libya by the end of the current year
