Al-Wasila: Sudan will Provide to the World a Good Model of Free and Honest Election
Khartoum, Jan. 21 (SUNA)- The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Al-Samani Al-Wasila, has affirmed Sudan welcome to the effective participation of the African Union in monitoring of the coming elections. During his meeting Thursday with the visiting Commissioner of Political Affairs at the African Union and the accompanying delegation, Al-Wasila reviewed the serious executive steps adopted by Sudan for holding the elections, in accordance with the Interim Constitution and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). The African Union delegation is visiting Sudan to assess the adopted pre-election arrangements prior sending a mission of the African Union to monitor the coming elections in Sudan. Al-Wasila affirmed at the meeting that Sudan will provide to the world a good model for commitment to peace, dialogue, the charters and free and fair elections. He referred to the negative media trend being conducted by circles hostile to Sudan with the aim to distort Sudan image, undermine its national unity and to hamper its democratic transformation process. Meanwhile, chairwoman of the African Union delegation said that they got informed on the progress in the election process in Sudan and the serious steps which were taken by the National Election Commission and the concerned organs for holding the elections according with the set timetable. She said that the mission of the African Union delegation includes also getting informed on the humanitarian situation and visiting south Sudan and Darfur. MO/MO
