Statement from the Sudan Liberation Movement/ Army Concerning the Libyan Government’s Mediation to end the Conflict in Darfur.

The Sudan Liberation Movement/ Army took up arms not for the sake of waging war, but to change a certain political reality in the entire Sudan, thus it stand duty bond to bring a real settlement to the conflict that can be felt by all, specially the vulnerable Darfurians and the IDPs as the ultimate goal of any peace must be the safe and voluntary return of the IDPs and refugees to resume their livelihood; and when the movement made it very clear that it will not entire any negotiation with the government before the deployment of the robust mixed forces to protect civilians and the implementation of all the UN security council resolutions pertaining to the situation in Darfur, we are undoubtedly talking from experience, because the spirit of dishonoring agreements was deep-rooted in the back mind of Khartoum’s extremists.

And as things in Sudan are taking unprecedented turn, due to the SPLM/A withdrew of his ministers from the Government of national unity after the partnership between the two parties in the implementation of the CPA was not being honored, it is strange that the powerful backers of Darfur peace at any cost are rushing to bring additional untimely ‘’peace of positions’’ to Darfurians through a wrong mediator.

The Sudan Liberation Movement’s commitment to bring a genuine peace to Darfur was not in question, a peace that will have the Darfurians majority popularity support that needed for any peace agreement, so that each and every one Darfurian will have the full responsibility to nourish and safeguard the peace, and that can not be except in a realistic peace through a truth worthy mediator in an ideal venue; and although it’s our innate desire to see peace come to our people, but bringing speedy end to the conflict without addressing the root causes it will not vial and the DPA and the selective few signed agreements stand as a live examples.

The Sudan liberation Movement/ Army takes this rare opportunity to, thank any efforts being exerted to get a settlement, retreat it’s genuine desire to resolve the conflict and renew it’s pledge to bring only a just, sustainable and uncompromised peace to Darfurian people.

Thanks.

Abdul Wahid Mohamed Ahmed Alnour.

The Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army.
