SUDANESE EXPATRIATE COMMUNITY, JEDDAHSTATEMENT REGARDING UN RESOLUTION NO. 1706

The Sudanese Expatriate Community (SEC), Jeddah KSA, strongly denounces and rejects the U.N. Security Council resolution for the deployment of international troops in Darfur to replace African Union (AU) forces.

Despite all efforts the government of the Sudan has taken to safeguard sovereignty of the state and to boost the culture of peaceful transference of power through democracy, the United Nations still insists on holding the Government of the Sudan fully responsible for the situation in Darfur, ignoring  peace agreements signed between the Government of Sudan and its counterparts and all efforts taken to solve problems.

In its last meeting, the leadership Council of SEC decided to express their condemn of the  above mentioned resolution and to pack the decision taken by the Government not to allow the International troops to enter the Sudan, as that act is an explicit interference in the nation's  internal affairs.

As a full support for the government stand, a protest gathering manifestation by the SEC  will take place next Thursday 14th September 2006 at the Consulate General of the Sudan, Jeddah  to show  the  unity of all Sudanese against  any challenges of the coming period.

The peace agreements signed between the Government of the Sudan and its counterparts will be largely attributed to the international community, therefore UN should realize and consider the impact of such  resolutions on a country like Sudan  and should accordingly  change some of its policies, if it really cares for the human rights in the whole world.

In light of this situation, SEC requests the international community and nations who respect the human rights and those who are pushing to spread literacy and welfare  among all people of the world, to consider the current critical situation  of the Sudan and to render their support for the struggle of the Sudanese people for peace and stability and pack whatever means they may adopt to achieve these goals.
