Press Statement
The Force Commander of the African Union Mission in The Sudan (AMIS) is utterly dismayed at the hijacking yesterday 10 December 2006 of an AMIS vehicle together with two military personnel by unidentified armed men. This personnel and the vehicle have been taken to an unknown location where they are being held despite repeated calls from the Mission for their release.
AMIS condemns this hijacking in the strongest terms, and once more calls on the kidnapers to unconditionally release the personnel and the vehicle with immediate effect and without any bodily or physical harm.
