HA NOI� Viet Nam wants to strengthen friendship and advance ties with Sudan, President Nguyen Minh Triet told visiting Sudanese President�s aide and vice president of the National Congress Party of Sudan, Nafie Alic Nafie Ahmed, in Ha Noi yesterday.
Triet stressed that Viet Nam and Sudan still had many opportunities to expand co-operation in agriculture development, health, education and training.
He said he believed issues which had been discussed by the two sides during Nafie Alic�s visit would result in a strengthened relationship between the two countries and more concrete, co-operative programmes.
The president suggested the two sides needed to exchange more delegations at different levels in an attempt to work out concrete co-operative programmes.
Nafie Alic also confirmed Sudan�s desire to further relations with Viet Nam.
During his visit in Viet Nam, he also held talks with director of the State President�s Office, Nguyen Van Chien, and met with deputy prime minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
He also had working sessions with the head of the External Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Van Son; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat; Minister of Fisheries Ta Quang Ngoc; Minister of Industry Hoang Trung Hai; and Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group executives.
The two sides exchanged ideas to speed up co-operation in the economy, trade, agriculture, oil and gas and aquaculture between the two countries.
Sudan, meanwhile, applauded achievements on socio-economic development that Viet Nam has made in the past two decades of renewal as well as its independent, self-reliant, multi-lateral and diversified foreign policy which has helped boost the country�s integration process.
It also congratulated Viet Nam�s success in hosting the 14th APEC meeting, and becoming a WTO member last year.
Nafie Alic highly valued the outcome of his current visit, citing major agreements with agriculture, industry, fisheries ministries , and Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group.
The Vietnamese side affirmed its policy to develop traditional ties and multi-faceted co-operation with Sudan.
The host also pledged to work together with Sudan to develop economic ties between the two countries in a dynamic and effective manner.
