Khartoum, Nov. 30 (SUNA) - Vice President of the Republic Ali Osman Mohamed Taha laid the foundation stone for the Tower of the Sahel and Sahara's Bank at Al-Mughran quarter in Khartoum Sunday over an area of 30,000 square metres. Secretary General of Sahel and Sahara Community Mohamed Al-Madani Al-Azhari affirmed stand of Sahel and Sahara's countries beside Sudan against the conspiracies, adding that the laying of the foundation stone for the bank expresses the actual solidarity of the community with Sudan. Addressing the celebration that the bank administration organized Sunday, Al-Azhari said that the community is the only organization that depends upon its capabilities in contribution to development, referring to the role the bank plays in the development of the member countries, hoping that the bank would contribute to development in Sudan as the bridge linking the Arab world and Africa. Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of the Bank, Al-Hadi Harfly praised the role being played by the government of Sudan and President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir in supporting the bank as it is considered as founding member of the community and second biggest contributing country in the bank. He pointed out that the issued capital of the bank is 500million euros and paid-up capital is 371 million euros, adding that the bank collected ample financial resources that enabled it, besides its own capital, to provide loans to major and strategic economic sectors and activities in various member countries through networks of branches in the fields of agriculture, agriculture- based processing industries, telecommunications and construction.
