Kampala THE Sudanese nationals on Tuesday sustained serious injuries when the driver lost control of an omnibus they were travelling in and rammed into a tree along the Jinja Road-Luzira roundabout, narrowly missing two traffic policemen.

The in-charge of traffic in the city, Steven Odongkara, said the omnibus driver, Joseph Lago, a Sudanese national and his two colleagues, Francis Mwini and Sofia Elias working with Samaritan Purse, an International relief agency sustained injuries.

The traffic chief said the driver was trying to dodge a salon car, registration number UAJ 846L whose driver, Patrick Otwech, ignored traffic signals to stop and entered into the road from the Jinja Road side.

In the ensuing confusion, the van's driver swerved and hit a pavement and a trailer before hitting another roadside pavement and a tree.

The Police rushed the injured to Mulago Hospital and arrested Otwech.

Both vehicles were towed to the Jinja Road Police station.
