The Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticizes the American Administration meeting with the JEM

Khartoum, Jan 11 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday criticized the meeting of the American Administration with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) as being one of the types of conducts that send a wrong message, false strength and encourage the rebel movements into sticking to their stiff position of rejecting peace and turning away international efforts exerted for peace realization. Commenting on the meeting between Ms Jenday Frazier, US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs with a delegation from JEM, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Al Sadeq, pointed out that the US Administration should have avoided such a meting with a Darfur rebel movement. On reports that JEM had come up with preconditions for participating in the peace process, the Spokesman Ambassador Ali Al Sadeq, said those who want peace would sit to the negotiating table and would not put preconditions and demands before a third party that has no relations to the talks, adding that what the rebel movements were asking for should be discussed during the negotiations which are the suitable venue for such matter. Speaking about reports of military build up by the JEM, the ambassador said those who seek peace should work and utilize all resources for dialogue in place of amassing troops and plan for attack against towns and other areas. The spokesman stressed that the JEM military build up inside the Chadian national territories was known to the concerned authorities who closely monitor and follow up the situation. MA/MA
