The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends statements by the American Envoy to the Sudan about dealing with the Sudan
Khartoum, Dec. 21 (SUNA) - The Official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al Sadeq, on Sunday said statements attributed to Richard Williamson, the American Envoy to the Sudan, during a lecture delivered in Washington showed the American official was well informed about the Sudanese dossier because of his intensive talks and contacts with the officials in the Government of National Unity, since his appointment as Presidential Envoy to the Sudan. The ambassador told the Sudan News Agency that the American Envoy was well informed about the Sudan notwithstanding the short time he has spent on the job, that he is able to confirm that quite diplomacy in dealing with the Sudan would yield positive results contrary to the policy of "arm-twisting", threat and menace. He said the Envoy has held the rebel movements equally responsible for reaching a final resolution to the Darfur crisis. The ambassador has expressed hope that the observation made by the Envoy, Mr. Williamson, would be heard by the new American administration in particular because the Sudan was not a priority in the election agendas of President elect Obama.
