BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, the Sudanese government and political parties have expressed condolences over the recent murders of Chinese workers in Sudan.

Al-Bashir sent a telegram of sympathy to Chinese President Hu Jintao Tuesday over the murders of the kidnapped workers.

Al-Bashir, speaking for himself and on behalf of the Sudanese government and people, expressed profound condolences to the relatives of the victims.

Sudan is determined to arrest the murderers and bring them to justice, the president said.

The Sudanese side will do its utmost to safeguard the safety of Chinese companies and workers in the country and push forward the friendly cooperation between the two countries, he said.

On Wednesday, Mostafa Osman Ismail, advisor to President al-Bashir and foreign affairs secretary of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), offered condolences at the Chinese embassy on behalf of the president, the government and the NCP.

Umma Party leader Sadiq al-Mahdi and deputy secretary-general of the People's Congress Party Ibrahim al-Sanusi also condemned the incident and offered sympathy to the Chinese side.

In recent days, people from all walks of life in Sudan expressed condemnation and indignation over the incident and offered sympathy to the rescued Chinese workers and relatives of the victims.

Nine workers from the China National Petroleum Corporation were kidnapped from an oil field near the western Sudanese region of Darfur on Oct. 18. China confirmed Tuesday that four had been killed, a further four rescued and one remained missing.
