Sudanese community in the Netherlands stages procession of denunciation to ICC in the Hague
The Hague, Aug. 2 (SUNA)- The Sudanese community in the Netherlands with participation of representatives of the Sudanese communities in Germany and Belgium staged Saturday a procession of denunciation to the premises of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague against the allegation of the prosecutor of the ICC prosecutor against Sudan and handed a memorandum in this connection to a representative of the court. The memo affirmed that the allegations of the ICC prosecutor constitutes a violation to the sovereignty of Sudan and will negatively affects the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts in the country. The Sudanese communities in the Netherlands and the other European countries called in their memo to the ICC for stoppage of the ICC procedures, affirming their support to the stances declared by the African Union, the Arab League, Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP), the Non-Aligned Movement and other organizations, that called for withdrawal of the procedures against the President of Sudan. The Sudanese communities in the European countries affirmed their support to the initiative of the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, to find a Sudanese solution for Darfur problem and realizing durable peace for Darfur people as top priority. Meanwhile, the Rapporteur of the Sudanese Committee in the Netherlands for denouncing Ocampo's allegations, Mohamed Abdou Ismail, said in a statement to SUNA that great numbers of the Sudanese in the Netherlands besides Sudanese from Germany and Belgium and some Arab and African communities in the Hague participated in the procession. He affirmed that the procession sent a signal to the ICC and the Netherlands society that the Sudanese President is supported by his people inside and outside the country, describing the procession, which lasted for four hours, as successful.
