KHARTOUM, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Mohammed Taha reiterated Tuesday his government's commitment to implement the Darfur Peace Agreement (DPA) to boost security and stability in the western Sudanese region.

The vice president made the remarks during his meeting with Mini Arkou Minawi, senior presidential assistant and chairman of the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority (TDRA), the state-run SUNA news agency reported.

Taha also asserted Sudan's keenness to continue its efforts to complete the peace process by bringing the rebel movements which had not signed the DPA into the peace process.

He emphasized the commitment of the Sudanese presidency to carry out the decisions of the Forum of the Sudanese People for Solving Darfur Issue, which was held in Khartoum in October and November, and to boost the ongoing efforts in the context of the Arab-African initiative to solve the Darfur issue.

On May 5, 2006, the Sudanese government signed the DPA with the main faction of the Darfur rebel movements in the Nigerian capital Abuja. But the deal has been rejected by most of other rebel groups including the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), which demanded more compromises from the government.

On Tuesday, Sudan's media reported the International Criminal Courts (ICC) would issue soon an arrest warrant against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

In mid-July, the ICC's prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo filed 10 charges against al-Bashir, including three counts of genocide, five of crimes against humanity and two of murder.

The prosecutor accused al-Bashir of masterminding a campaign to get rid of the African tribes of Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa in Darfur.
