Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Secretary General on disabled persons commends Sudan's efforts and its backing for disabled persons

 

Khartoum, Jan. 2 (SUNA)- The Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Secretary General on disabled persons Shikha Haffsa Bint Hamad Al Thani, has commended the efforts exerted by the Sudan and the attention paid to disabled persons as well as its support for the organizations operating in the field of disability. Skikha Haffsa has pointed out in a meeting with the voluntary organizations operating in the domain of relief, held at the headquarters of the DDR North Sudan, expressed her gratitude for being able to get a first hand information about the status of the disabled persons in the Sudan. The meeting has meanwhile reviewed the challenges facing disabled persons as well as the achievements scored in this domain. She has meanwhile been briefed by the DDR North Sudan Commissioner Dr Sulaful Deen Salih, on the DDR programmes and the rehabilitation of the disabled persons and how they profit from the DDR programmes in the country.
