President Al Bashir to SUNA: the French President has promised to exercise pressure on Abdul Wahid to participate in the peace process

Doha, Nov. 30 (SUNA) - The French President Nicholas Sarkozy has announced the commitment of his country to exercise pressure on Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nur, the Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, to take part in the Darfur peace process. Commenting on his meeting on sideline of the International Development Conference held in Doha, with the French President Sarkozy, the President of the Republic Field Marshal Omar Al Bashir pointed out in a statement to the Sudan News Agency that the meeting tackled the peace question in Darfur and the issue of the International Criminial Court (ICC), pointing that the French stand was very clear that they would not allow any procrastination on the part of Abdul Wahid to stay away from the peace process. On the ICC question, the President of the Republic said the French have a role and a stand during the discussions, saying that we have found that a positive development has occurred on the French position but no agreement was reached between them and us, adding that dialogue would continue on this question.
