President Al-Bashir to lead Sudan delegation to development summit in Doha

 

Khartoum, Nov. 22 (SUNA)- President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, heading a high-level delegation, will participate in the international summit on financing development, which is to be held in Doha, Qatar, on November 29- December 2 at the invitation of HH the Emir of Qatar, Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. The international summit is to review implementation of Monterrey Consensus. Sudan Ambassador to the State of Qatar Ibrahim Abdallah Fagari pointed out in a statement to SUNA that Sudan will participate in the international follow up summit on financing development with a delegation headed by President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir and expected that the delegation will include Minister of the Presidency Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Alor and Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Al-Tegani Salih Fedail, a number of officials concerned with financing and Sudan Permanent Envoy to the UN Ambassador Abdel-Mahmoud Abdel-Halim. Ambassador Fagari pointed out that the international conference will discuss a number of issues, including elimination of poverty and hunger, ensuring primary education, boosting gender equality, reducing children mortality rate, enhancing maternity health, combating AIDS and ensuring environment sustainability through establishment of an international partnership in this connection. It is to be recalled that the international conference on financing development, which was held in Monterrey town in Mexico in March 2002, was a turning point in the method of international cooperation on development.
