President Al-Bashir to Receive Final Report of Forum of the People of Sudan on Darfur
Khartoum, Nov. 11 (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, is due to receive Wednesday at the Friendship Hall the final report of the Forum of the People of Sudan on Darfur Issue, which includes visions and views that provide formulate a framework for a Sudanese just and lasting solution for Darfur issue, ending the war in Darfur and restoration of peace, stability and reconciliation in the region. The forum's decisions and recommendations include a clear-cut strategy to remove all the impediments that impede the voluntary return of the displaced people and refugees to the home villages and areas by enhancement of the security and services and development and providing assistance to the affected families. The final report of the Forum of the People of Sudan on Darfur Issue recommended concentration on delivery of collective compensations, which are to be preceded by provision of security and services at the home areas of the displaced people and refugees. The final report called for establishment of model villages that enjoy basic services and security instead of the payment of compensations to individuals and reactivation of the social security funds to contribute to compensation of the affected people, provided that the state's capability to pay compensation shall be taken into consideration. The forum also recommended cessation of hostilities that are to begin by declaration of immediate cease-fire from the government side to affirm good will and the determination to achieve peace. The forum called on the UN - African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID) to carry out early arrangement s to guarantee success and continuity of the cease-fire. The final report demanded stoppage of hostile media campaigns and propaganda to ensure success of the negotiations and to direct all the mass media and mobilization and communication organs to acquaint with the necessity of urgent peace. The forum also urged all the political forces and the civil society organizations to participate actively in the peace process. The forum recommended formation of a committee of the forum to make contacts with the armed movements of Darfur and to convince them to join the peace process, arrange for meetings between members of the forum and the armed movements toward boosting the peace in coordination with the Arab - African initiative and the joint mediator. The forum called for dispatching delegations for Darfur states to inform about the efforts for reaching peace, security and reconciliation. MO/MO
