President Al-Bashir briefed on Egypt's efforts to convince Khalil Ibrahim to resort to the negotiation table

 

Khartoum, Nov. 10 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir was briefed Monday with the efforts of the Egyptian Government in order to convince Chairman of the Justice and Equality Movement Dr. Khalil Ibrahim to resort to the negotiations table in Doha. This came during the joint talks held at the Guest House Monday between President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir and Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak. President Al-Bashir briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the situation in Darfur as well as the progress of the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) besides the preparations for holding the coming elections. In this regard, Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Alor said in a press statement that President Al-Bashir lauded Egypt's efforts to convince the armed movements in Darfur to take part in the coming session of negotiations in Doha. On the visit of the Egyptian President to Juba, Alor said it came as part of the Egyptian efforts to push forward development in southern Sudan that makes the option of unity attractive. The Minister further referred to Egypt's keenness on the unity of Sudan, explaining that Egypt has been implementing several development projects in the South, including hospitals, power stations and infrastructures.
