National Assembly approves report of its committee on Attack on Omdurman

 

Khartoum, Oct. 28 (SUNA) - The National Assembly Tuesday approved a report of the parliamentary fact-finding committee on the incidents of the attack on Omdurman in presence of Ministers of Defence and Interior. Chairman of the assembly's security and national defence committee, Gen. Dr. Jalal Taur, reviewed the activities of the committee as well as the outcome of its visits to the areas affected by the attack. The committee came out with a package of recommendations on military, political, development, economic and social dimensions. The recommendations stressed the importance of boosting resources and capabilities of the Armed Forces, Police and the security forces so as to carry out their tasks in the best way. The recommendations underlined the importance of solving Darfur issue, ending the tension in relations between Sudan and Chad and seeking assistance from regional and international organizations, neigbouring countries and the International community toward solving Darfur issue Darfur on the light of Darfur peace agreement. The committee's recommendations also called on the armed movements in Darfur to join the peace process. On the socio-economic and development dimension, the committee called for focusing on the areas affected by the attack as well as giving much care for the native administration, security for the displaced people and helping them begin a new life in substitute villages.
