Minister of Justice issues decree assigning chief prosecutor for crimes in Darfur
Khartoum, Aug. 5 (SUNA) - Minister of Justice, Abdul-Bassit Sabdarat, has issued a decree assigning the general counselor Nimer Ibrahim Mohamed as chief prosecutor for the crimes that took place in Darfur after 2003. The decree further appointed a committee including senior counselors, including Kamal Mahjoub Ahmed, Al-Hadi Mahjoub Makawi and Mamoun Mekki, to assist the chief prosecutor. The Minister of Justice authorized the chief prosecutor and his aides to investigate in crimes that took place in Darfur as well as representing prosecution before courts. The decree instructed the chief prosecutor to file a monthly detailed report including the status and procedures of the cases to the Attorney General of the Republic of the Sudan. MF/ BT
