Minister of Finance meets deputies of parliamentary group of SPLM

 

Khartoum, Nov. 1 (SUNA) - The deputies of the parliamentary group of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) have lauded the consultative method adopted by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy on the general budget for the financial year 2009. Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Awad Al-Jaz affirmed in a plenary meeting Saturday with the deputies of the SPLM at the National Assembly concern with mapping out a comprehensive national plan for reactivating the performance of the non oil sectors in reference to the agricultural sector to lessen dependence on petroleum, especially under the current international financial crisis and drop in oil prices. The minister pointed out that the meeting aimed at broadening the base of participation in the economic affairs and discussion of the budget of the new year with all parties. He pointed out that implementation of the programmes for making unity attractive is considered as a joint responsibility between the federal government and the government of southern Sudan, affirming the concern of the government of national unity with the projects for linking the north and the south in the fields of river transport, electricity and water. The minister affirmed concern of the new budget with increasing production and developing the renewable resources, referring to concern with the social programme for combating poverty on six axes: health, education, water, micro-financing, partnerships and the social projects.
