Kuwait stresses keenness to enhance relations with Sudan

    KHARTOUM, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali stressed on Sunday his country's keeness to boost the strategic economic partnership with Sudan and its desire for enhancing the relations in all fields.

    This came during talks the Kuwaiti minister held with Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir, according to a report from the official SUNA news agency.

    He told reporters following the meeting that the two sides would continue consultations on how to speed up implementation of the projects that serve the interests of the two sisterly countries and peoples.

    On Saturday, Sudanese Minister of Finance and National Economy Awad Al-Jaz, who attended the meeting, praised the distinguished relations linking Sudan and Kuwait, referring to the talks held between the two sides and the agreements and specific programs that resulted from them to boost investments in all fields, especially agriculture.

    The SUNA also reported that the Kuwaiti minister handed over a written message to the Sudanese president from Amir of Kuwait Shiekh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah dealing with the distinguished relations between the two countries and means of boosting further the joint cooperation in all fields, especially in the economic domain.

    Al-Bashir declared Sudan's welcome of the invitation of the amir of Kuwait to attend the economic summit which is to be hosted by Kuwait early next year.

    The Kuwaiti minister arrived in Khartoum on Saturday heading a high-level delegation on a two-day official visit to Sudan.
