Government Affirms its Commitment to Facilitate Procedure for Work of Humanitarian Aid Organizations

 

Khartoum, Nov. 30 (SUNA) - The government has affirmed its full commitment to facilitate all the procedure to enable the organizations operating in the humanitarian field to carry out their tasks all over the country. During his meeting Sunday in his office with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, John Holmes, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Haroun Lual Ron, affirmed that the national unity government is ready for more cooperation with the humanitarian organization. The Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs announced the UN agreement to support Sudan government in implementing humanitarian programmes, adding that the UN has a strong will to boost the implementation of humanitarian programmes in Darfur, south Sudan and the three areas of South Kordufan, the Blue Nile and Abiye. He said that the United Nations will work together with the government for boosting the projects of voluntary repatriation and rehabilitation in the country. The UN official appreciated the decision of the government to prolong the period of quick track procedure to facilitate delivery of humanitarian aid till January 2010. He called for establishment of a model mechanism of cooperation between Sudan government and the United Nations in fields of capacity building, enhancement of the organizations' work and strengthening the coordination between the two parties in all domains. Meanwhile, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs acquainted the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs on the plans and programmes of his ministry in the humanitarian aid field, adoption of the experiment of united procedure complex in south Sudan as well as strengthening the cooperation between north and south.
