General Budget for Year 2009 Includes Establishment of 120 Water Reservoirs and 20 Dams
Khartoum, Dec. 12 (SUNA)- The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Engineer Kamal Ali Mohamed, said that the general budget for the year 2009 included assignment of funds for implementing water harvest projects and digging 192 water reservoirs and establishing 20 dams in different states in Sudan in the context of the Agricultural Development Campaign. He said that 158 million Sudanese pounds were assigned in the new general budget for digging water wells and reservoirs and establishing dams through the budgets of the states, the National Water Corporation and Darfur and East Sudan Rehabilitation Funds. He indicated that contracts were signed with Chinese companies for implementing water projects in Gedarif, Port-Sudan and Al-Fasher. MO/MO
