Foreign Ministry Criticizes Statement of Ashraf Qazi on Trials of Aggressors on Omdurman town and Regards it as flagrant Intervention in Sudan Internal Affairs
Khartoum, Aug. 7 (SUNA) - The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, has regarded the statement of the special representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Sudan, Ashraf Qazi, on the trials of participants in the attack on Omdurman town as flagrant intervention in Sudan's internal affairs and clear attempt to cast suspicion on the independence and fairness of the Sudan Judiciary. In a statement to SUNA, Ambassador Al-Saddiq called on Ashraf Qazi to withdraw his statement in this regard and to present apology to Sudan government and people, describing the statement as an insult to Sudan. Ambassador Al- Saddiq said that Ashraf Qazi should not consider himself as another Paul Bremer, indicating that Qazi, in the first place, has nothing to do with Darfur and its events. He inquired about what should Ashraf Qazi expected the government to do for persons who held arms, entered the capital and carried out sabotage, killing, destruction and wounding against thousands of innocent citizens.
