First Vice President leads government delegation to the Oslo donors conference next Sunday
Khartoum, May 1 (SUNA) - The First Vice President of the Republic and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, will leave next Sunday for Oslo, Norway, heading the Sudan delegation taking part in the donors conference with the participation of he United Nations and he World Bank, the government of National Unity and the Government of southern Sudan. The Minister for International Cooperation, Dr Tigani Salih Fidail, and member of the delegation, has pointed out in a press statement that the conference will be preceded by a sideline session on Monday during which the participants will be briefed on the government position towards the implementation of the MDGs in he various domains related to good governance and the private sector and the current situation in Darfur. He added that the first session will be addressed by the First Vice President and representatives of the donor countries. He said member of the delegation Sayed Al Khateeb will present a paper on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. He explained that another paper dealing with the implementation of the five year plan (2008-2011) with regard to the infrastructure projects that basically deal with roads and railways that link the north with the south. He said this would be followed by pledge from the donors and their contribution in the implementation of those projects. The Minister said the delegation will focus on the slow response of the donors in meeting their pledges and how the problems that faced the implementation could be overcome. The delegation includes beside the First Vice President of the Republic, each of The Minister for International Cooperation, the Minister of Finance, and two ministers from the Government of Southern Sudan as well as a technical delegation from the governemnt of national unity ant he government of southern Sudan.
