Dr. Nafie receives UN Under-Secretary General for Field Support
Khartoum, Nov. 16 (SUNA) - The UN Under-Secretary-General for Department of Field Support Susana Malcorra affirmed that the tripartite mechanism - of Sudan, UN and AU- is working to deploy some 60% of the UNAMID troops by the end of the current year as well as 80% of these troops by the end of next March. She said in a statement to SUNA after her meeting Sunday with Assistant of the President of the Republic Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie that the meeting stressed importance of overcoming all the challenges facing the complete deployment of the UNAMID troops. She explained that her visit to Sudan comes to make sure that all the logistic aspects were considered and implemented with regard to the deployment of the troops. Meanwhile, Director of the Department of Peace at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Al-Tayeb Ali Ahmed said the 2nd meeting of the tripartite mechanism discussed issues of transport, clearance and cooperation in domains of aviation.
