Dr. Nafie briefs Qatari leadership on the government's efforts for realizing peace, stability and development in Darfur
Doha, Dec. 3 (SUNA) - Assistant of the President of the Republic Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie has briefed the Qatari leadership on the government's efforts for realizing peace, stability and development in Darfur states. Dr. Nafie conveyed during his visit to the State of Qatar Tuesday a verbal message from President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir to the Emir of Qatar Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Sudan Ambassador to the State of Qatar Ibrahim Abdallah Fagiri said in a statement to SUNA that the Assistant of the President of the Republic briefed His Highness the Emir on developments concerning the issue of Darfur, including convening of the Forum of the People of Sudan and the recommendations it issued, pointing out that the government has started their implementation, top of them the declaration of cease-fire. He also affirmed to His Highness the Emir the seriousness of the government concerning the issue of peace in Darfur and that there are intensive efforts for normalization of relations with Chad, as this will lead to stability in Darfur. Meanwhile, Dr. Nafie met with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Shiekh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al-Thani, where he expressed appreciation for the stand of Qatar beside Sudan at the regional and international arenas and affirmed confidence of Sudan in the Qatari mediation for solving Darfur problem. The ambassador described in his statement to SUNA the visit of Dr. Nafie to Qatar as successful. BT/BT
