Dr. Nafie affirms success of talks held by government delegation in Britain

 

Khartoum, May 5 (SUNA) - Assistant to President of the Republic, Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie, affirmed success of the recent talks by the government's delegation in Britain in opening new chapter in the bilateral relations between Sudan and Britain. Speaking in a statement to the press upon his return to Khartoum Monday, following visit to London and Cairo, Dr. Nafie said he conducted candid talks with the British parties on the bilateral and international relations, including Security Council, issue of Darfur and the hybrid operation in Darfur. Dr. Nafie explained that the two sides agreed to continue dialogue on means to normalize relations between Sudan and Britain, saying that the coming session of dialogue will be held in Khartoum shortly. Meanwhile, the Assistant to the President explained that he felt during his visit to Cairo, where he met with a number of leaderships, officials and representatives of the ruling party and members of Research centers unprecedented seriousness from the Egyptian side to consolidate further the bilateral relations and establishing joint projects in the economic fields as well as promoting coordination in dealing with the international community. As for his meeting with Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani, he explained that the meeting focused on the efforts to boost the national unity and reaching at common grounds in order to maintain the national interests of the homeland, saying that Al-Mirghani will return home soon.
