Civil Aviation Corporation Issues Statement on Plane Crash in South Sudan
Khartoum, May 2 (SUNA) - The Civil Aviation Corporation has issued a statement on a crash of a plane on Friday morning in south Sudan which caused death of the 21 persons aboard it among them were the Minister of the People's Army Affairs, Gen. Dominquez Dem, and the Advisor of the Government of South Sudan, Justin Bakh, other officials and the plane's crew. The corporation stated that it has received information on a crash of a passenger plane near Rumbek town which led to death of all the persons aboard it, including the crew. The statement indicated that the plane was in a journey from Wau to Juba, and near Rumbek town the plane's captain contacted the airport tower about an engine fault calling for landing permit due to his inability to resume the journey. The statement went on to explain that the plane crashed and burned before reaching Rumbek airport, a matter which caused the death of all the 19 passengers and the two-person crew. A committee was set up by the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic to investigate in the incident and adopting the required measures. MO/MO
