Chairwoman of Unit of Combating Violence against Women Lauds Enhancement of Sudanese Women's Status

 

Khartoum, Dec. 2 (SUNA) - Chairwoman of the Ministry of Justice's Unit of Combating Violence against Women Dr. Attiyat Mustafa has pointed out to the great improvement in the status of Sudanese women in the political, social and economic spheres. Speaking at SUNA regular press forum, organized by the Council of Women, Children and Family at the Ministry of Social Welfare of Khartoum State Tuesday within the framework of the International Campaign for Combating Violence against Women, Dr. Attiyat affirmed guarantee of Sudanese women rights by the constitution and law, adding that, but they require reactivation and education among women. She stressed the importance of coordination and formation of a national network for civil society organizations to map out a national plan for combating violence against women, referring to reduction of cases of violence against women in Darfur states according to the reports of the UN's agencies, calling for capacity building of the community police personnel to enable them to perform their tasks properly in community awareness.
