Armed Forces Refutes Allegation on Abduction of Nine Egyptian Workers at Oil Exploration Areas
Khartoum, May 5 (SUNA) - The Armed Forces has denied the false claims made by a group naming itself as Kordofan Liberation Front and published by some newspapers Saturday on the group's abduction of nine Egyptian workers alleged to be working with oil companies at Abu-Jabrah and Hejlij areas. The false reports included the kidnappers' demand for their absorption in the Armed Forces as the condition to set free the nine Egyptian workers. The Director of the Information Office of the Armed Forces' Spokesman affirmed in a statement to SUNA the falseness of such claims, indicating that like such fabricated rumours were intended to undermine peace, security and stability and to scare the employees and oil companies with the aim to halt the development process which is overwhelming the country. He stressed that the Armed Forces and other security organs are living up to their role to provide security, pave the way for security and to prevent any attempt to undermine the nation's resources and gains. He asserted the commitment of the Armed Forces to all the peace agreements and to its duty to defend the homeland and the national interests. The Director of the Office of the Armed Forces' Spokesman called on media and newspapers to abide by the ethics of the profession, verify the credibility of news and to get the accurate information from the official sources.
