American Special Envoy to Sudan to arrive in Khartoum Friday
Khartoum, Aug. 5 (SUNA) - The American Special Envoy to Sudan, Mr. Richard Williamson, is due to arrive in Khartoum Friday on a one-week visit to Sudan in which he will hold talks with a number of officials and pay visits to Juba, Abyei and Darfur. In this connection, the official Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, said in a statement to SUNA the Sudanese-American talks will focus on the outstanding issues, progress of implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the situation in Abyei following the settlement by the two peace partners as well as the issue of Darfur in its political, humanitarian and peacekeeping aspects. Director of the American Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdul-Bassit Badawi Al-Sanosi, said to SUNA the visit of the American envoy is an opportunity for the two sides to know the stances of each other regarding the developments of the allegations of the International Criminal Court, considering the fogy and contradictory stances adopted by US on the issue in the Security Council. SUNA learnt that the visit of the American Envoy to Sudan will be preceded by visits to Chad and Ethiopia and he is also expected to discuss the relations between Sudan and Chad during the visit.
